The best pub in Appin! Well, the only pub in Appin. I’ve been a few times for a coldie after a mountain bike ride, but it’s too far to walk home on any regular Saturday night. After dipping our toe in the water, it seems a Saturday night at Appin is something special.
Crowd highlights included Summer of ’69, You’re the Voice and a rousing mega mix of Australiana and pop sung by one of the patrons at the end of our first set. He also flaunted some sweet d-floor moves with forward and backward somersaults – legend.
We can play, but sadly you won’t find Paul McCartney, Bono or Dave Grohl in this band. My largely untested and fictional theory is that if you give a group of lads loud Hawaiian shirts, just the right mix of drinks and some live music, then they will actually think you’re a rock and roll superstar. In the haze of Sunday morning I hope they still believe it…
“Well, I woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn’t hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn’t bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
Then I fumbled in my closet through my clothes
And found my cleanest dirty shirt.
Then I checked my phone, found SPR,
Three lords of rock I saw at Appin Pub.”
