There’s more than one approach for any good party band, just as there’s more than one way to string a cat up, sorry, string a bass up. Here’s some of the styles of Wollongong party band you might adore:
Too cool for school. Yes we wear sunglasses at night, yes we wear shirts that are too tight. You call it hair gel, I call it brylcreem. We are awesome and we don’t smile.
We want to get as drunk as you do!! Yay! Free beer! Special prizes for understanding the slurred lyrics of our last songs. We couldn’t decide who was driving, and so we’re sleeping in the van. All of us. Together. Has anyone seen my wallet?
I will solo all night long, I am awesome. If you don’t like the seven minute guitar solo in our opening track, I’ll switch guitars and try a twelve minute solo in our second. Seriously though, come and see how good I am.
Pop diva. We wear hoop earrings, we have choreographed dance moves, and it almost looks like we’re singing our mega pop medley, but you know we’re lip-synching.
We look dishevelled, therefore we are good musicians. We smell, we don’t shave (but can’t grow a beard), and we roll our own cigarettes. We must be good musicians because we’re absolutely unemployable in any other field. My jeans are too tight, and I think my wallet is stuck in my pocket…. can you help?
We just love Pearl Jam, and if you don’t then get stuffed. Pearl Jam, seriously, how good are they. Pearl Jam! Pearl Jam! We’ll probably play their first album to begin with, then to mix it up, we’ll play their second album.
Drug afflicted lick junky. We found a new dealer, and we like him. We also found a new guitar lick, and we like it. Tonight we’re going to play it on loop because it’s totally rad man, totally wild. Our vocalist is on her way, we think.
Of course, if you’re looking for a really good party band then you’ll need it all – A bouquet of The Killers, Jet, Queen, Taylor Swift, Thirsty Merc, Pearl Jam and Nirvana. That’s right: Scissors, Paper, Rock.
Do you want live music at your christmas party? Get in your boss’ ear now!
“Do you remember last year’s xmas party?”
“Yeah, it was the same as the year before.”
“We should get a band.”
Yes you should! You’ll need to start talking about it early so that there’s money in the budget. Make sure it’s your boss’ idea, so they get all the glory, then rock on!
