We’re not all that sure how a Wollongong cover band ended up playing a drought relief fundraiser in Grenfell, but we’re all glad we went! We love playing music, especially with our mates, and definitely with a receptive crowd. This was certainly a great party.

Where is Grenfell? If you head west, over that big hill, by the panoramic race track and on through Cowra (think Cowra Picnic Races), you’ll get there eventually.

I gather that when it’s not raining, grass doesn’t grow. This makes feeding sheep and cattle really difficult and expensive. It also makes growing crops almost impossible. So farmers found themselves in a position where they couldn’t actually produce anything they could sell, and their expenses were skyrocketing. This was a great cause for a Wollongong cover band to get behind just before xmas.

Many thanks must go to the fundraiser organiser Mark Staunton. He is a Formula One Race Boat legend, Fox Sports commentator and all round good bloke. We received such a warm welcome, and he really looked after us. Not to mention, raising awareness and financial support for some families that were really badly impacted by the drought. Really, thanks.

While we drove almost a day each way in the Scissors Paper Rock van, this gig is one of the most rewarding and memorable that we have played.

I spoke to Mark, saying how happy we were to be in Grenfell and hoping that they’d raised some money. He replied “Look, in a way it’s not even about that. It’s about these people knowing that someone out there gives a damn.”

The crowd was pumped and local guest musicians were great. It was unreal to party into the night with some awesome people. We’re keen to play at your party too!

Rock on Grenfell!
